Easter City Breaks – Serviced Apartments Europe

February 18, 2010

Discover the most beautiful cities in Central and Eastern Europe with the special Easter offers for singles, couples and families by Mamaison Hotels & Residences.

Spring has finally come – the best thing to do is to pack your suitcase and to get away from it all over Easter. If you choose a short break in one of the major Central or Eastern European cities, you can celebrate Easter differently from back home, but still in a traditional way, and be pampered in one of the unique Mamaison Hotels and Residences. In Prague, Budapest and Warsaw, Easter markets and classical concerts, historic sights and museums ensure a wealth of new impressions. Mamaison Hotels & Residences provide city centre accommodation with a pleasant atmosphere and have put together a comprehensive package with many extras for Easter travellers – including an Easter gift, Easter Sunday brunch and a visit to an Easter concert or a performance.

Prague Spring

It is a well-known fact that Prague is at its most beautiful in the spring. In streets and parks, people make the most of the first rays of warm sunshine. The traditional Easter markets on Old Town Square and Wenceslas Square bustle with life: Easter eggs are decorated and willow switches plaited, glass blowers and woodcarvers demonstrate their ancient crafts. Folk groups from all over the country provide musical entertainment. From 20 March to 11 April, “Pražsky velikonoční trh”, the Easter Market in the heart of Prague’s historic Old Town, has every decoration on offer that you may ever need – and culinary delights hardly compatible with the traditional idea of Lent. Grilled pork knuckles, hearty fare from frying pans and cooking ranges, but also delicious cakes and pastries entice visitors to the stalls.

The Mamaison Hotel Riverside Prague in the modern Prague quarter of Smíchov is only a short distance from the colourful market. The Boutique Hotel provides stylish accommodation in an historic ambience. Friendly and attentive staff ensures the wellbeing of all guests who also enjoy the benefit of free entry to the sauna and gym at a nearby sports club.

Guests at the Mamaison Business & Conference Hotel Imperial Ostrava in Northern Moravia are no less spoilt. The upper midscale hotel is located in the heart of Ostrava city centre with its pedestrian zone leading through a beautiful old town with prestigious town palaces and many stylish coffee houses. Only recently, Czech President Vaclav Klaus was a guest in the Mamaison Hotel Imperial and dined in the hotel restaurant which enjoys an international reputation for its outstanding Moravian cuisine – the perfect location for a delicious Easter feast.

Musical Easter days in Budapest and Warsaw

Over the Easter period, Budapest is host to Hungary’s largest cultural festival. From 19 March to 5 April, the 10th Budapest Spring Festival presents more than 200 concerts of classical music, jazz and pop as well as theatre performances and film screening in more than 50 locations. On Good Friday, the National Opera will perform Wagner’s “Parsifal”, while Easter Saturday will see the performance of Guiseppe Verdi’s magnificent “Requiem” in the Palace of Art. In Budapest, too, the scene would not be complete without an Easter market – alongside traditional crafts, you will find hearty local delicacies such as langos, pörkölt, filled cabbage rolls and sausages. A trip to Hadas in the Easter period is most rewarding. There you find an art and craft market with demonstrations of traditional crafts, the blessing of the traditional Easter fare and other Easter customs. Folk dance groups from Mezőkövesd and the surrounding region entertain visitors on Easter Monday.

The Mamaison Hotel Andrássy Budapest is located right in the city’s historic centre. This unique 1937 building in the Bauhaus style provides top accommodation at a very reasonable price. The interior design is modern, and neither the catering nor the service leave anything to be desired. The Mamaison Residence Izabella Budapest  provides ideal accommodation for families in a central location with spacious rooms and suites. The Residence spoils its guests with its warm and cosy atmosphere.

Warsaw, the city on the Vistula, offers a highlight for friends of classical music with the 14th Ludwig van Beethoven Easter Festival: from 21 March to 3 April, outstanding soloists and orchestras from all over the world play not only Beethoven, but also Brahms, Mahler, Schumann, Chopin and many others in the Warsaw’s many concert halls. Guests staying in the centrally located Mamaison Hotel Le Régina  in the historic Mokrowski Palace are close to the concert halls. A must-do on the programme of any guest should be a dinner in the prize-winning hotel restaurant “La Rotisserie” – it offers the best of the city’s international gastronomic delights. Warsaw’s other Mamaison hotel, the Mamaison Residence Diana Warsaw , is also in a central location and with its generous rooms and suites particularly well suited to families staying for several days. Book online seven days in advance and receive a 15% discount.
